Lidice. A place of Nazi terror and a tragedy that shook the world. At the same time, a place of new life in the form of tens of thousands of roses in a world-unique garden. And it is here that the Poesiomat has grown too.
The dramaturgy of the Lidice Poesiomat offers a number of unique compositions. It focuses on the community life of an ordinary Czech village before the Second World War. Visitors can listen, for example, to an authentic recording of Huřík's band from old Lidice, or to recipes by the well-known interwar chef Jaroslav Suchánek.
The Lidice tragedy is recalled through direct testimonies of surviving Lidice women: poems by Helena Leflerová and the authentic narrative of Marie Šupíková, née Doležalová. The Poesiomat also tells the story of Lidice after the end of the Second World War. The dramaturgy of the Poesiomat includes, for example, the memoirs of Marie Uchytilová — the author of the sculptural work Memorial to the Child Victims of War — the story of the founding of the world-unique rose garden located here, and a prize-winning essay by student Marie Kaucová on the subject of the tragedy in the village of Ležáky
. The Poesiomat features the voices of actors Ondřej Vetchý, Máša Málková, Lucie Stará, Jan Sádovský and Petr Besta. The dramaturgy of the Poesiomat was created in collaboration with the Lidice Memorial.
